Two A/C BZ938 "W" and BZ939 "Y" set out on special mission to Bassein, Mandalay & Prome areas. A/C "Y" which obtained results ran into heavy cloud E. of Akyab and was thrown about considerably. One engine became U/S, so Captain decided to return to base. A/C "W" carried on with mission which was abortive, due weather. |

There were no further operations during May. Bothe A/C were due for major inspections; there were no spare A/C; and crews were tour expired. Steps were taken to reinforce the flight. |
