292 Squadron Reports
The Commanding Officer of 292 had the problem of
trying to communicate with two dispersed flights.
To overcome this he instituted a “weekly” report system. (which, as time went on became a monthly report).
Reports would be produced by both the flights and the Commanding Officer, the sharing of this being a method of maintaining communication.
These reports were not intended to be “official reports” and as such are more “candid” than the Form 540.
These reports cover the operations of Warwick, Walrus, and Sea Otter aircraft in addition to Liberators, and give an interesting perspective on the problems of setting up and running a Squadron in SEAC.
These reports are found in Air 27 1630, Public
Records Office, Kew, England; transcripts of them follow.
(these files, as with most on the site are “draft” with “?” used where the film is difficult to read.)
There are 44 reports in total, all files are in pdf
At this time I have not listed the actual report titles, or dates.
A few transcripts of the Forms 540 and 541 have been done.
The originals are very hard to read, so the transcripts, which are in "as typed" format, are far from perfect.
